This model shows one side of a tenth-century cross fragment built into the Victorian porch of St Cuthbert’s Church, Forcett, North Yorkshire. This is the face visible on the exterior side - the part seen on the inside of the porch is shown at https://skfb.ly/ozI8I .
Here a large spiral fills the lower section, ending in a snake head near the right edge. Above this coiled serpent, the standard reading of the scene is that it shows the ‘Hound and Hart’ motif - a frequent feature of Anglo-Scandinavian sculpture. A large animal - the deer - has a hound attacking it from above. Looking at the 3D model from different angles of lighting, it is also possible to believe there is another creature lying on its back, its mouth open, above the spiral snake and below the deer.
