In Old Fort Park in Fort Pierce, Florida, is a Mound associated with the Ais People dating to the Mississippian Period (about 1000AD to 1600AD). The site has been a significant landmark for centuries, and the site has changed dramatically from human interaction, erosion, and climate change. Historical documentation of the site began as early as 1884, and archaeological investigations have taken place in the 30s, 40s, and in the early 2000s. Most recently the site was recorded in 3D using FARO Focus Laser Scanning Technology.
