Localizado no cais de Vila Franca do Campo, era a segunda maior fortificação da ilha de São Miguel. Terá sido construído no séc. XVII.

Durante a II Guerra Mundial, foi nele construído um ninho de metralhadora ligeira, do qual ainda se encontra, aberta na muralha do forte, a abertura para o tiro.

Located on the Vila Franca do Campo pier, it was the second largest fortification on the island of São Miguel (Azores Islands | Portugal). It would have been built in the 17th century.

During World War II, a light machine gun nest was built there, and the opening for firing can still be seen in the fort wall.
