More model informationThis is a 3d recontruction of the seafloor at Fossil Hill in Santa Monica Basin off Southern California. The area imaged is approximately 330 square meters of seafloor. A closer look will reveal bedded layers of fossil serpulid worm tubes, fossil clam shells, and live clams. The rugged terrain is created by exposed outcrops of carbonate and fossils. Live seastars and thornyhead rockfish (Sebastolobus sp.) are visible as well.
