The fossilized auditory bulla, or inner ear bone, of an extinct species of whale curated at the Natural History Society of Maryland. This specimen measures approximately 4 inches long and was likely recovered from the shores of southern Maryland and dates from approximtely 2.6 to 15 million years ago.
