Get up close with this ultra-detailed 4-cylinder engine block, captured with Artec Point 3D laser scanner. This 3D model of a rectangular engine block digitally recreates each cylinder, with every hollow and rib accurately rendered. Scanned only in upright position, the model includes the clearly defined cylinder head, a combustion chamber, valve seats, ports, and a water jacket. Beneath the cylinders, examine the crankshaft, connecting rods, and the oil pan – even the digits of the serial number are clearly visible.
Our workflow began with a 10-minute prep, followed by a rapid 30-minute scan using Artec Point. With a 120 FPS capture rate, layers of intricate gears were captured with exceptional speed and clarity. Another 20 minutes of processing in Artec Studio produced a neat 3D model with 0.02 mm accuracy, exceptional for quality control and reverse engineering.
