Fowberry Excavation Site 10 (Jan 2007)3D Model
Area of outcrop set on private land in the Fowberry Moor area, near Wooler, Northumberland.
Found during an excavation by Stan Beckensall and students from University of Newcastle in 1973, this carved area of outcrop was previously unknown. As well as other carved sections of outcrop, the dig unearthed a double arc of cobbles placed on top of bedrock, some of which were also carved. Referenced ‘Fowberry Excavation Site 10’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA), it was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. Motifs consist of a few cups some with arcs / partial rings. The stones to the left in this model were part of the excavated structure forming an arc.
