Fragment of a roman portrait head. From an approximately life-size bronze head, a part of the right half of the face with the forehead, the right eye, the base of the right nostril and a fragment of the beard has survived. The fragment has irregular fracture edges, partially along the nasolabial fold, and shows minor cracks. The iris is marked by a chiselled circle cut off by the upper eyelid. Stitch lines denote the eyebrows. The subdivision of the whiskers was done with a chisel. An identification of the portrait head with an Antonine or Severan emperor is not possible due to the fragmentary state of preservation. Bronze; h 13 cm; w 9,2 cm; 2nd half of 2nd century - early 3rd century AD.
