Eskimo drum - round-oval - with a band-shaped frame and a solid short handle made of whalebone. The frame is covered on one side with skin (seal skin) attached by sinews laid in a groove around the periphery of the frame to prevent slipping. Cf. Acta Lapponia I p.61. After the drum came into the possession of the museum, it was equipped by President Christie with painted figures in a reddish-brown color - presumably from alder bark, and these figures are found to be identical on a Sami drum from Finnmark. Cf. Knud Leem: “Description of Finnmark” and “Delicacy”. April 4, 1953. Length: 46 cm, width: 39.9 cm, height: 3 cm. Handle length: 11.3 cm.
