Fankish beads were made by the Frankish Kingdom that existed from the 5th to the 9th century. These beads were of high value and traveled throughout Europe as well as throughout Africa and the Middle East. Their design would vary depending on the region and time they were made. Some were plain and some were highly decorated.
The above 3D Model is one of the many beads found in the Netherlands and that is in the possession of Centre Céramique Maastricht. This one was found in the grave of a deceased woman, probably as a mean of protection and to demonstrate the social power of the deceased lady.
