The family of the Austro-Hungarian composer (1811-1886) originally came from the border triangle between Hungary, Slovakia and Burgenland. In 1840 Franz Liszt was a guest of Kasimir Esterházy for a few days in the castle of Gattendorf. Likewise, Liszt had an aunt in Gattendorf, whom he visited frequently.
