The monument commemorates the Battle of Dürnstein, in which France fought against Austria and Russia in November 1805. It was built according to a design by Friedrich Schachner and opened on June 27, 1905. Mortier, Kutuzov, Schmitt and the hunter Bayer are depicted in reliefs in the upper part, which has the shape of a cartridge. Inscriptions in German, French and Russian commemorate the battles.
