The Hoysaleswara temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built in the first half of 12th century in Halebeedu (previously called Dwarasamudra, Hale beedu means “old capital”), by King Vishnuvardhana of the Hoysala Empire.
During the early 14th century, Halebidu temple site along with others were ransacked, looted and much artwork damaged (particularly nose/face, hands) by Muslim invaders from northern India (Khilji dynasty and Tughlaq dynasty of Delhi Sultanate).
At Setu, we are digitizing these great monuments and are providing this for FREE to be used by the 3D community.
