There is a small apse, between the choir and the sacristy of the Cathedral of Terracina, work to clean the blackened and deteriorated plaster brought to light years ago the underlying layer occupied by a fairly well preserved fresco, at least in the visible portion. Inexplicably, the cleaning work that, after that discovery, should have led to a more careful restoration work, was suspended and almost forgotten. And yet, the workmanship, the delicacy of the colors and lines, the shape of the figure, appear to be of considerable artistic value. The interest of the discovery, however, is not limited to the undoubted formal value of the work, but it is integrated by the historicity of the subject, confirmed by the coeval inscription to the figure that shows: “Beata Brigida “. “Blessed”, indeed, and not yet “Saint”
