More model informationOne of the most unusual pieces in the Dunimarle Collection, this 18th-Century frog-shaped flower holder was probably made in Chingtechen, China – the original and largest porcelain production centre.
The body of the animal is studded with tiny porcelain balls to create the toad-skin effect. Bowls of this kind were used to hold rose petals, allowing their fragrance to circulate. It is part of the Oriental porcelain collection assembled by Magdalene Erskine between 1830 and 1870.
