These pictographs are in the Grotto Alcove at the Palatki Cultural Heritage Site located in the Red Rock District of the Coconino National Forest near Sedona, Arizona.
There are pictographs and petroglyphs from multiple pre- and proto-historic cultures active in this alcove including Archaic, Sinagua, Yavapai, Western Apache, Hopi, Navajo, and modern European-derived cultures.
These pictographs are interpreted to possibly be a solar calendar based on the location the sun rises (marked by the black triangles) along a hillside horizon on the opposite side of the canyon from this alcove.
