This “shield” pictograph assemblage is situated on the cliff wall approximately 20 feet above rooms 14 and 15 at the Honanki Cultural Heritage site.
This is a “shield” feature of which there are multiple examples at this site. Although frequently referred to as clan symbols, there is reason to believe they have a different signficance to the Sinagua paleo-indian culture that created them. They believed to date from the time period of 1100 AD to 1300 AD.
The Honanki Cultural Heritage site is located in the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest to the northwest of Sedona Arizona.
