This rock slab was legally purchased from a landscape rock provider. Like many examples seen before, it has Sinagua petroglyphs that are no longer reasonably available for scientific study. The exact provenance of where the sample came from is unknown. There are many examples like this with trace fossil and archaeologic information that have not been protected or provided for scientific study.
This model is part of an ongoing project to document “at risk” rock art at our Heritage Sites due to natural or vandalism related issues. Additional information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found at the following web sites http://www.sedonaredrocktrails.org/
