Galileo, who was already blind as he described to his son Vincenzio (Gamba) how a pendulum could be linked to a clock mechanism to create a constant impulse.

Vincenzio recorded the descriptions

Galileo died in 1641 without the clock being built.

Vincenzio began building the pendulum clock around 1649, but died shortly afterwards.
