Used for “The Hand Game”, a common game played by two Ohlone people. This piece differs from the first as it has a dark marking across the middle of the piece to distinguish the two. This piece is hollow in the middle unlike the other piece, but this has no implications on the game. The exterior of both game pieces is commonly made of deer toe bones. The objective of the Hand Game is to guess what hand the piece with the dark marking is. One player is the guesser while the other player tries his best to trick the guesser. If the guesser is correct, they get to hide the piece next. If the guesser is incorrect, then the hider will receive a point and get to hide the pieces again. The game is commonly scored with counting stick, with each stick counting as a point. The game ends when one player wins all the sticks. Both pieces would be used together in recreation as a past time game for friends and family.
