More model informationGanymedes Fountain in front of the Opera House in Bratislava. The fountain from 1888 was designed by Viktor Tilgner and depicts figures from ancient mythology. Young Ganymedes is abducted from Mount Ida in Phrygia to Mount Olympus by Zeus, who has transformed himself into an eagle. On the upper part of the central basin there are sculptures of water creatures, below the central column is surrounded by children’s figures holding four different species of fish from the Danube - carp, cat fish, pike-perch and pike. The figures of the fountain were cast in Budapest.
