More model informationThis garnet amphibolite is from the Hartz Range in central Australia. Geologically, this is part of the Arunta Block. Rocks of the Arunta Block have been multiply deformed, and represent an ancient continental collision zone between the North Australian Craton and the South Australian craton during the Proterozoic. The white scale on the underside is a calcrete crust deposited by creek water.
