Gary Fixter The 21st FIFA World Cup in Russia has come to an end this week, and for football fans the countdown is already underway. The World Cup may be a few years away, but, while the United States of America has not qualified and will not be taking part, it promises to be an exciting show of football at international level.

With five titles, Brazil is the only nation to have reached the World Cup finals, and their tournament was hosted by their home country’s national team, the Brazilian national team. After England had two late winners at their own tournament in 1966 and England had two of the youngest home-grown winners at the 1966 tournament, there was always something for football fans.
