Another model of the prehistoric carving located to the W of Feldom Rigg Lane, in the Feldom Range area of Gayles Moor, North Yorkshire.

This example was discovered in 1966 by Stuart Feather, and was later added to Beckensall and Laurie’ s 1998 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of County Durham, Swaledale and Wensleydale’ as ‘D8’. Paul and Barbara Brown subsequently referenced it ‘FR 14a’ in ‘Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales,’ describing:

“Large flat slab 140 x 100 x 24cm. Approximately 48 cups, five surrounded by single rings and a series of grooves forming enclosure patterns.”

The carving also features distintive pecking, and this may represent different phases of carving as it’s not consistent across the whole surface.
