More model informationThis is a mid-resolution Digital Outcrop Model of an unnamed outcrop featuring a cluster of sub-meter-sized boulders belonging to the upper Gediz Vallis ridge of Gale crater (Mars), and explored by the Curiosity rover in August 2023.
The model was made from 119 Navcam images taken between sols 3919 and 3928. The images are available on the JPL Raw archive.
This outcrop shows light-toned and fractured bedrock exposures, that are widespreadly covered by dark-toned regolith and rubbles, but also by cobble- and boulder-size blocks exhibiting various facies. They are tought to have rolled down the ridge just above due to erosional processed. The depositional settings of these deposits are still under investigation.
