More model informationThe 118 ft schooner George Marsh was built in 1882 as a US vessel and later sold and reregistered as a Canadian vessel in 1913. After a long career it foundered in a storm enroute from Oswego to Kingston with a load of coal off Amherst Island in Lake Ontario. Two survived but twelve died including the captain, his wife and children and the wife and children of the deck hand. Only the brother of the captain and deck hand survivied. The model was created using a subset of the 4,161 images shot on one dive from a team of three photographers Kayla and Durrell Martin and Ken Merryman. It was processed by Matt Charlesworth.
