Updated 3D model of George Taliaferro’s statue located at Indiana University’s football stadium.

Technical

• 1061 images were taken of the statue in front of the stadium
• Images captured with two iPhone13 Pro Max
• Agisoft Metashape Pro was used to photogrammetrize the images which resulted in a based 3D digital model.
• Original model was 12,700,000 polygons which was then decimated to 100,000 for Sketchfab

Project

A future project of the AVL needs several high resolution 3D models to eventually be laser etched into glass crystal displays. One of these displays will be presenting George Taliaferro. Our original 3D scan of this statue wasn’t high enough resolution, so the purpose of this scan was to get as much detail as possible.
