3D rendering of Gilsonicaris rhenanus Van Straelan, 1943 (IRSNB A11647) from the Lower Devonian (Lower Emsian) Hunsrück Slate (Germany), obtained from the segmentation of X-ray micro-computed tomography (µCT) data.
µCT was undertaken at the AST-RX imaging platform (MNHN, Paris), using a GE Sensing and an Inspection Technologies phoenix | x-ray v | tome | ×L240-180 CT scanner. Voxel size size is 10.15 µm. Segmentation (thresholding for the body and manual for mouthparts) and 3D rendering were carried out in MIMICS Innovation Suite 19.0 (Materialise). The presented 3D model was further rendered in Blender.
