The reconstruction was completed using 30 photos taken with a smartphone camera. The current model is a bit messy with artifacts, so I will clean it up and re-upload at some point.
The ‘Glacial Boulder’ near Brocton in Cannock Chase AONB is a well known local landmark and meeting place. The boulder originated from Scotland and moved down during the last ice age before being discovered during gravel quarrying and placed in various places around Cannock Chase in the 1950s. The concrete base dates from the First World War when this area was a large military camp and the square concrete pads visibile in the model are where a large water tank used to supply the camp was once located. The rock has a long and interesting local history and has been moved from several places (including in the 1960s by kids rolling it down the hill as a prank) and finally being placed on the top of a pedestal and decorated with stones. The sun dial on top no longer remains but the mounting points and bolts remain.
