This light green coloured glass bowl stems from the 7th century and was found in the town of Borgharen, Limburg, the Netherlands. It was discovered in a cemetery with graves from the early Middle Ages. The item is believed to hold great historic value through its relationship with Maastricht in these times, when it was considered a core economic area for the northern Gaul tribe. In one of the graves on the cemetery in Borgharen an old man was buried, together with this bowl, a buckle and different sorts of combat gear. A historically distinct inscription on the buckle found with the bowl likely tells us the name of this gentleman, ‘Bobo’, who was likely a wealthy and potentially powerful resident of the Maastricht area in their time.
