More model informationThis is a high-resolution Digital Outcrop Model of the Glen Etive outcrop in the Glen Torridon clay-bearing unit of Gale crater, Mars. This model is made using Navcam and Mastcam photos taken between sols 2471 and 2555 the rover Curiosity. These images are available on the PDS archive.
This finely laminated sandstone bed shows multiple cross-stratifications propagating in different direction taht advocates for a very dynamic hydrological system. Some of these cross-beds are cross-cut by fractures filled with calcium sulfate (~gypsum).
Model by Louis Zaugg, reworked and uploaded by Gwénaël Caravaca of LPG Nantes (UMR 6112 CNRS).
Note: some projection errors remain, we work on correcting this
