More model information

Global near surface monthly temperature Jan,1850-Apr, 2016 from the HadCRUT4 dataset (center) and datasets from NASA (left) and NOAA (right) going back to 1880. The center of each radar plot is -1C (cooler than average), where blue meets red is average (0C) and the outside of the red is +1C (warmer than average). The Z-axis is time and all axes are linear. The HadCRUT4 dataset (http://bit.ly/1qhmq0E) defines 0 as the average from 1961-1990, NASA (http://go.nasa.gov/JKDFD2) uses 1951-1980, and NOAA (http://1.usa.gov/22rdqE9) uses 1901-2000). Slide the progress bar to the left to see the three plots overlain and to the right to see them separately. I got the idea for this plot from the (awesome) 2D animation that Ed Hawkins posted at http://bit.ly/24HeLrW. An animated version and additional description is at: https://youtu.be/cVt6ximM4hE. A model with a cubic interpolation is at: https://skfb.ly/PnnM. An older version of this model containing just the HadCRUT4 data (up to Mar, 2016) is at: https://skfb.ly/OppM.
