More model informationThis seated statue of the goddess Sekhmet is located in the great hall of the Cairo Museum. Together with a twin, they guard the large central statue of Amenhotep III alongside his wife Tiyi. Presumably, these statues of Sekhmet come from the great palace of this pharaoh, which was located on the west bank of Thebes, now Luxor. This was a palace of great dimensions, and during its excavations, numerous statues of the goddess Sekhmet were found. Today, we can see the famous Colossi of Memnon, actually colossi of Amenhotep III himself, which welcomed visitors at the entrance of the majestic temple.
