More model informationMy all-time favorite childhood video game is “Ratchet & Clank,” so recreating Clank was a personal nostalgic project for me.
Instead of replicating Insomniac’s stylized theme of the game I decided to go down a more realistic route when modeling Clank; I was particularly interested in real world applications behind Clank’s joints and mechanical functions: I modeled a ball in socket for his ankles, a hydraulic armpit and pelvis tube and a rotating component for the fingers that would make sense in theory.
I also felt as though the metal SBSAR files I had on hand weren’t what I was looking for, so I made a custom smart material for his brushed metal through Substance Painter.
Enjoy!
