More model informationGolden coffin of the priest Nedjemankh dating to Egypt’s Ptolemic Period (305 -30 BC). The coffin is comprised of gilded cartonnage with inlaid eyes of glass. The coffin was purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2017 who later learned that it had been illegally taken from Egypt. Beause the coffin was not legally removed from Egypt, the Met repartriated the coffin to Egypt in 2019. The coffin is now displayed in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC). The object was photographed in Cairo in November 2021.
