Govan 25

3D Model

Govan 25 (Stirling Maxwell’s numbering; ECMS 23) is one of 31 early medieval recumbent cross-slabs originally recorded at Govan Old in 1899. These monuments would have originally laid flat in the churchyard, likely marking the grave of a significant early medieval individual. The top part of the stone has been broken, but we have no record for what it may have looked like. The lower portion seems to indicate angle-knobs were part of this stone’s design. The inscription was added sometime between the 17th-20th centuries, when the stone was reused.

The 3D model was created with SfM photogrammetry, using Agisoft Metashape, and edited with Zbrush.
