More model informationGranhult’s church is a church building in Nottebäck’s parish in Växjö diocese. It was Granhult’s parish church until Granhult’s parish was included in Nottebäck’s parish. The church is Sweden’s oldest preserved timber building. Through dendrochronological analysis, the timber in the church dates to the years after 1217; The church is probably built in the 1220s. The reason why Granhult’s church remains is that the parishioners refused to demolish the church when it was formally taken out of use in 1837, when they joined the neighboring congregation and formed Nottebäck with Granhult’s parish with the newly erected Nottebäcks church in Nottebäck.
