This 3D model dipicts a mortar and pestle obtained by its current owner at a second-hand market shortly before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is used now primarily for the preparation of meals to crush, pulverise and grind various ingredients, herbs and spices. Its prominent place in the kitchen of its owner is reflected within this 3D representation, which shows the object resting upon the table top on which it was most often used. Its granite surface is shaped into a simple, solid and efficient design which has barely alterned since its use by cooks and healers of ancient times. Today, when the importance of eating healthy nurturing one’s physical and mental state has become markedly poignant, the mortar and pestle remains an everyday yet timeless reminder of the impact that a good home-cooked meal and quality ingredients can have on human wellbeing. Measurements: Mortar (12.5cm diameter x 8.5cm high). Pestle (2cm diameter at narrowest x 14cm long x 4cm at widest).
