José Seva Cabrera was a musician from Alcoy (Spain) that passed away the 30th 1922 when he was 57 years old. He was educated in Paris by the masters Leo Delibes y Eduard Lalo. He became the musical director of the orchestra “La Primitiva” and also made his living as a teacher. He managed a musical instrument store in San Lorenzo Street, Alcoy. As a member of the Union Republican Party he was elected city councillor in 1911. This funerary monument is a work of the sculptor Miguel Torregrosa (1886-1973) and represents “The Melancholy”. Due to the fact that he did not practice Catholicism, his mortal remains rest in the civil cemetery, outside the religious facility of San Antonio Abad Cemetery. However, nowadays there is no longer a division between the cemeteries for believers and non-believers.
