About 150 historical Islamic gravestones remain in Bahrain, but are now rapidly deteriorating due to salt damage and other factors. As a cooperative project for cultural heritage conservation between Bahrain National Museum and Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, 3D measurements of all the gravestones are being conducted to document the current state of the Islamic gravestones.
