Probable prehistoric carving found in the Green Crag area of Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.

This stone sits partway down the scarp of Green Crag, overlooking a prehistoric enclosure. Referenced IAG293 in Boughey & Vickerman’s 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’, it’s described as:

‘Medium-sized rock, with four cups.’

The CSI: Rombalds Moor project subsequently referenced the stone ‘Green Crag 06’ on ERA in 2013, describing the same motifs.

This decimated model was created from a stereo pair captured by Peter Butler (CSI Team) in November 2011. The imagery forms part of the HLF funded CSI: Rombalds Moor / Watershed Landscape Project archive.
