From 8 - 15 August 2010, the Viking Ship Museum, in collaboration with Køge Museum, performed a marine archaeological survey on the wreck of the 17th century ship of the line DANNEBROGE in Køge Bay in order to assess the extent of illegal activity on the wreck, on which diving without a permit is prohibited. Maritime archaeologists found damage on the wreck, caused by both illegal diving and anchoring. Some finds were salvaged for future examination. One of the salvaged finds was a grenade. The grenade was examined, conserved and later displayed at Køge Museum (https://koegemuseum.dk/). In 2016 the grenade was reconstructed and the replica turned in to this 3D model for presentation at the Special Exhibition: “Dive In– join the maritime archaeologist at work”. You can find more info about the special exhibition at the Viking Ship Museum web page (http://www.vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/en/visit-the-museum/exhibitions/special-exhibitions/dyk-ned-kom-med-marinarkaeologen-paa-arbejde/).
