Greyfriars Kirkyard | George Heriot Senior (D27)

3D Model

The monument of George Heriot Senior is one of a series of almost peculiar to Greyfriars Kirkyard. Deriving from a common type of Gothic Tomb, it consists of a base, a body and a pediment; with the body decorated in a freely rendered version of Doric renaissance, and the pediment presenting a heraldic shield.

George Heriot was a goldsmith, and archival sources mention the decoration on this monument was gilded by the member of the Guild.
