Greyfriars Kirkyard | Thomas Bannatyne (F11)3D Model
This elegant early Renaissance monument commemorating Thomas Bannatyne, who died in 1635 aged 65, was erected by his wife Janet MacMath. At the centre of the pediment an angel holding aloft a book (presumably the Bible) crushes a skeleton, symbolising the soul’s victory over death. To the right is a recumbent figure of Father Time, wielding his familiar hourglass and scythe.
