The Grootslang is based on African folklore. It’s a legendary cryptid made by the gods when they were young and inexperienced, so they made it too strong and cunning. Fearing it, they split it up into the first snakes and elephants as we know them today. One of them escaped and is said to have repopulated its species and still roams the earth, luring in elephants and eating them.
This is a low-poly, fully 3D animated model made for a mobile and tablet edutainment game. It has seven animations in total: Walk, Attack 01, Attack 02, Hit/Damaged, Cover, Idle, Death. The game is divided into two parts: A team sets out to locate a tower placed by a user (e.g. a teacher), one of the teammates tries to conquer the tower through getting various subject-based questions and tasks correct, here the user can ask the team and they can together try to figure out the answer. The rest of the team defends the tower against incoming monsters in an AR mode. This is one such monster.
