The “Virgen del Carmen” Grotto is a niche built with river stones, concrete, and adobe by the people of El Calvario town. This construction is part of the Maria May School facade. The grotto, shaped as an arch, has a wood frontispiece. The sculptures’ niche has a concrete base decorated with flagstones. Its dimensions are around 1.20 x 1.80 x 1 meters (47.2 x 70.8 x 39.3 inches). An iron fence, encircled by adobe bricks, safeguard the image of the Virgin Mary in her “El Carmen” advocacy.
