Guard of the British 1788 Heavy Cavalry Sword, ready to be 3d printed. Comes around to about 490g.
The concept is a versatile guard that can be fitted to multiple blades you have, by having a place for changeable blade adapters on top.
What can I do with this model? You can 3d print this in stainless steel (or use lost-PLA and cast it in metal) and fit your own blade and grip onto it.
If printed in 316L, it should be sturdy enough for mid & high level intensity HEMA sparring, as long as you don’t spar like Swordfish.
If you are proficient with 3d modeling, feel free to modify this model to directly fit your blade. If you want to fit multiple blades onto one guard, print this model directly and make A) blade adapter B) nut C) grip
The adapter should fit the slot on top and your blade should go through it. The nut should be a sunken nut with a ⌀9.5mm sunken diameter that grabs the pommel.
It can fit (almost) any blade with the tang thickness under 6mm and screw size smaller or equal to M8.
