Guardian Robot (Castle in the Sky)

This was a slightly alternative look at the guardian robots from the classic Studio Ghibli movie Laputa: Castle in the Sky, where I asked what if the Laputian’s technology wasn’t quite as sophisticated as it seemed, and that the robots concealed a dark secret?

I made this piece purely as a test while experimenting with different hand painted styles, techniques and workflows for another project, so it’s a bit rough around the edges but I thought I’d share it here anyway. It was modelled, hand painted and baked entirely in Blender 3.0.0.
