This was a personal project I did after seeing it on a documentary about old weapon prototypes. The model has 8900 tris and 4096 texture maps.
History of the weapon: The Gyrojet is a family of unique firearms developed in the 1960s named for the method of gyroscopically stabilizing its projectiles. Rather than bullets, Gyrojets fire small rockets which have little recoil and do not require a heavy barrel to resist the pressure of the combustion gases. Although there is no recoil, the rockets had very low muzzle velocity and took about 25 meters to get to full speed. This meant they were ineffective at close range and could be disrupted by wind during acceleration. By the time the projectile sped up, it was already too off track to hit its target consistently assuming the rocket didn’t misfire.
