🔗 UK Heritage 3D Data at Risk (H3DAR) Final Report August 2026

The report, and associated supporting outputs, are the culmination of many months of work with the UK heritage 3D data community that I have undertaken in partnership with Wikimedia UK, and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Prompted by sector-wide concerns about the future of cultural heritage 3D data on Sketchfab (concerns compounded by the recent re-sale of this platform to another new owner), the project challenges the perception that commercial platforms are the sole cause of data precarity. Through extensive communication with a diverse range of UK 3D data producers, a picture emerges of a sector facing many extensive challenges to proper 3D data management…
